3D Fundamentals

3D Fundamentals is a primer of sorts on some basic stereoscopic concepts that those thinking of producing 3D content should be aware of. 3D isn't "just like 2D, but with two cameras." It requires understanding of basic mechanics, including interocular distance, convergence, impact on the viewer, and before-screen vs. behind-screen 3D convergence.

In the wake of the huge success of Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, 3D appears to have a secure future in cinema. The question is just how big: the appeal outside of kids, sci fi and horror remains unclear; and there's still the dearth of theaters. An examination of the likely future.
